Brace yourself! Season Five is here!

After months and months of desperate waiting (and I mean Fangirl desperate which another level of desperate altogether), it is here. Season five of Game of Thrones is here!

Wait, why isn’t that in caps?

The thought and intrigue of season five is literally what kept me going for the entire week. The week just seemed to go on and on. I mean, why couldn’t it be 12th April already? And I could watch  ‘The Wars to come‘ in peace. Then fangirl some maybe and drown in a jar of Nutella. Repeat the whole ceremony in a few days when the second episode comes out.

I even wore my Game of Thrones t-shirt yesterday to commemorate the occasion (yesterday because I was sure that I was going to set my foot out today).

And finally, it’s the D-Day. D stands for doom here because season five going to be feels loaded. I mean, it’s Game of Thrones, feels are a given. It’s strange that so many people watch the show and survive. Seriously! Season four was crazy. Intense. Loaded with feels.

Joffery got poisoned. Petyr Baelish made Lysa Arryn fly. Sansa dyed her hair. Arya watched without remorse as the Hound writhed in pain and died. The epic fight between the Mountain and the Viper. The smearing of Oberyn Martell’s brains all over the floor. Daenarys being Danaerys ie awesome. Jon Snow and Ygritte happening and then the scene where Ygritte dies.

Boy, did season four have action.

Well, after waiting for an entire day while my friends were discussing the new episodes (FOUR!), I saw the first episode. Sue me for not waiting for it to come on TV. I live in India. Season five premiered 24 hours later here. And trust me, when i say it’s censored.

So I saw it. Holy Hera and Zeus! It was amazing.

Something like this happened-

I waited till everyone was in bed. Before hitting play, repeatedly informed everyone that I was not to be disturbed for an hour, not even if George R.R. Martin called offering advanced copies of ‘The Wind of Winter’. (Not literally, Who would say no to something like that?) Put on those earphones, took a deep breath and braced myself, and hit the play button.

Woah. That was what my brain (and my mouth) yelled as soon the title track had started playing. I have a weird obsession with the Game of Thrones title track. It just gives me so much feels. Yes, I am a feels junkie.

Then the actually episode started…

It started with a young Cersei going to a witch who tells futures. The young Cersei is horrified by what the witch predicts. We didn’t see much of Cersei in this episode. But that’s okay. 52 minutes were spent well getting reacquainted with Danaerys, Jon Snow and Tyrion.

So the young Cersei goes to a witch who predicts that all her children are going to die. Then we see the present day Cersei visiting Tywin’s body which is being protected by Jaime. She blames Tyrion for killing Tywin (which he did. Go Imp! We love you!) and she blames Jaime for setting Tyrion free.

I don’t know  by what right does Cersei call Tyrion the ‘Little Monster’. She’s the monster here. Not Tyrion. And who does she think she is? Some clever bitch?

I can’t wait to see her go DOWN this season!

Tyrion meanwhile plans on drinking himself to death but Varys to the rescue. He convinces Tyrion to visit Daenarys. I can’t wait for their meeting and eventual alliance (please tell me that happens!).

I really do think they’re going to make an epic team. And if Jon joins them eventually, they will be pretty much the unbreakable trio. The smartass, the Queen and the warrior. Talk about meant to be.

There was a bit of Sansa but the only thing I noticed was her hair. I liked her hair better when it was red. Red hair is fascinating.

Jon Snow. Jon fucking Snow. I was so happy so see him. I dare not say that he’s my favorite character. Next thing I know, he’ll lose his head. He’s awesome though. Look at his face when Melissandre asks him whether he is a virgin or not. Well, he does admit that he isn’t albeit grudgingly. He acknowledges Ygritte. Ygritte was fire to his ice ❤  I miss Ygritte!

There was no Arya, no Theon. I want Arya and I want to see her sticking people with the pointy end. She survived for such a long time. I think it’s commendable. I so want an Arya-Cersei showdown.

Next episode maybe. Not the epic showdown but Arya Stark definitely. Thank Goodness it’s leaked! I confess that I’m definitely going to watch it tomorrow.

What did you think of this episode? Let’s have a long, spoiler-filled discussion in the comments below.

I personally loved the episode. Especially the bit where Jon shoots a burning Mance to allow him to die in dignity and thus defies Stannis. Boy, he’s in trouble. But when is he not in trouble?

The Epic Reads Tag

Thank you so much Ravenclawsam at A Blast of Random for tagging me! I had the biggest fun in writing this post.

1) If you could invite one author and one of their fictional characters to tea, who would you like to invite and what would you serve them?
I love this question! Well, what I would actually love is a full scale tea party with all my favorite characters and authors (Jane Austen-Elizabeth Bennet, J.K. Rowling-Luna Lovegood,  Meg Cabot-Princess Mia, Sophie Kinsella-Becky Bloomwood, etc).
But if I have to choose, I’d go for Scarlett O’Hara and Margaret Mitchell from Gone with the Wind.

First thing that I will probably blurt out will be-
Do you and Rhett finally end up together??????????? (Raised to infinity)
Because, c’mon folks, who doesn’t ship Scarlett and Rhett?
I definitely do.

And Scarlett O’Hara is badass. She’s a survivor and a fighter. I love her.

With Margaret Mitchell, I will basically try to test a theory I have. It goes like every character is in some parts the author. So I’ll probably end up comparing Scarlett and Margaret.

Maybe I could dress up too?

The Civil war era dresses are so pretty! Maybe I could dress up too?

As to what I would serve them, it would have to be whatever my mum cooks. Probably cakes.

2) Which book do you wish the author would write a prequel for?

I’d go for the Marauders. But there’s also the whole Ned Stark backstory. I would love to read in detail about the Greyjoy Rebellion and Robert Baratheon’s overthrowing of the Mad King. There’s some serious action and bloodshed there.

And we might finally find out the truth about Jon Snow.

3)  Which two characters (NOT from the same book) do you think would make a good couple?

I don’t know! I don’t want to risk sinking ships!

Maybe Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter and Rachel Elizabeth Dare from Percy Jackson? Both of them have really unique personalities. Luna and Rachel could be one of those funky couples who do their own thing. Their own thing includes defeating Dark Lords and Evil Titans and buying blue hair brushes and radishes by the dozen.
I can literally imagine them living in New York and being all artsy and weird-cool.

4) If you ran into your favorite author on the subway and could only say one sentence to them who is it and what would it be?

I will fall to George R.R. Martin’s feet and say “Please don’t kill Jon Snow!”

5) What book made you a reader and why?

I don’t really remember the exact moment I fell in love with stories. One of the earliest memories of books I have is of my beautifully illustrated book of Hansel and Gretel. I used to stare at the picture of the chocolate house for hours!

But the first book I read all by myself was ‘The Mystery of the Spiteful Letters’ by Enid Blyton. I was in the hospital for some viral fever and infection. Mum normally read out the book for me but that afternoon she was at home. I was bored (contrary to Grey’s Anatomy, hospitals are pretty non-dramatic) so I started reading it. Never stopped.

6) Your bookshelf just caught fire. What is the one book you would save?

That’s literally my worst nightmare! I won’t be able to stop at one book; I’ll try to save them all. But I will start the rescue mission with my copy of Persepolis followed by my Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and then Stardust and Sheets because I have an author-signed copy with a really cute message.

7) Which dystopian world would you want to live in and why?

Definitely none. The word ‘dystopian’ scares the horseradish out of me. I don’t think I’ll survive for a minute in the Hunger Games or anywhere in Panem for that matter except maybe the Capitol. Divergent is pretty crazy too.

I guess if I had to choose, then it would have to be the world of The Selection trilogy. It’s relatively safe and I’ll at least have my head on my shoulders.

The world of The Giver Quartet seems pretty okay too. Except for the fact that it’s colorless and too regularized. What is the point of the living in a world without colors or happiness or love?

So definitely, The Selection. It doesn’t hurt that Prince Maxon is pretty hot.

8) What is your most Epic Read of all time?

This question spells dilemma. I honestly can’t pick one. I’ve read so many amazing books.

Maybe the Harry Potter series?

Probably the Harry Potter series.

But A Song of Ice and Fire series is getting there. I’ve read just two books and I’m already so obsessed. I am pretty sure I’ll lose my sanity once I complete the series.

This was so much fun! Thanks again Sam!

Things that make me happy 1: Amazon deliveries

Fifteen minutes ago, my doorbell rang. I opened the door and there stood the courier guy with a bigass box.

I paid him and danced around hugging my box.

Then I got a pair of scissors and cut of the tapes to get my hands on the treasures that lay inside.

This is just the half of my order. Two books will be delivered by tomorrow.

A Dance with Dragons which is missing from the stack and Let it Snow.

I already own A Clash of Kings.

The books were delivered with these weird smelling air pillows.

My sister loves them but I wish it was bubblewrap instead. Popping bubblewrap is one of the most fun things anyone can do. It’s a big mystery why.

I wish I could start reading A Storm of Swords: Part 1 immediately.

But I will have to wait for a week. Damn these exams!

It’s just a week. Just a week. Breathe Mia. Breathe.

Meanwhile I’ll just bury my nose in each of these and breathe the amazing new book smell. It’s a ritual for me anyway. I sniffed The Fault in our Stars for two whole days before I read it.

Is that weird?

I love it!

Do you?

Ramble Schamble

I just returned from college and boy,am I exhausted!

I had lectures from 10 am (so I left home at 8) to 2pm. After the lectures I had to stay back for a meeting of my sociology group project. That was a bit of a flop because hardly anyone turned up. It wasn’t a complete waste because we (…I) wrote a letter requesting permission for shooting at a certain location.

Then we chilled for some time and I split a plate of noodles with a friend. Those noodles made me feel human again.

Then! I went shopping! 😀

It wasn’t for me. I’ve got a cousin visiting from Dubai. So mom asked me to buy her a pretty necklace. And one for her sister.

This one is for my cousin –

And this one is for her sister (also my cousin  XD )

Both my cousins are beautiful like fairies so these necklaces are perfect for them! I hope they love them!

And while at it, I ended up buying something for myself. If you love shopping but don’t want to end up spending money for any reason at that time, don’t ever go to Colaba Causeway. Seriously, that place is a siren for shoppers.

My necklace-

Yeah, I have a thing for skulls.

They’re awesome!

I started my journey homeward with my professor sitting in front of me in the train. It actually wasn’t awkward.

Now, I’m home. I’m writing a post which I’ll soon post. Then I’ll probably end up watching three episodes of Game of Thrones. I’m just about to finish s2 and Theon has been a bad, bad boy (or a big stupid jerk or the word that starts with ass and ends with hole). I know what happens next but I still can’t wait!

I love Harry Potter but I can’t discuss it as much as I can discuss Percy Jackson or Game of Thrones. Percy Jackson, I think, because there is so much excitement and anticipation for the very last book about Percy and co.

I am going to miss them so much! My OTP! Percabeth!!! How am I supposed to function without all that sass from Wise Girl and Seaweed Brain! And Nico! And Leo! Does Caleo happen???  What about Jason and his bricks? And Frank and his stick! And Hazel and her jewels! And Piper!

I cannot wait!

I’ve heard rumors that Nico gets POVs! How awesome is that!

Also there is a Book Sale in the city I might go to tomorrow. My friend got books at 90% off! Can you friggen believe it?????

Book sales, books, good book bargains, bookstores, bookmarks, authors, goodreads, bookoholics and every other thing related to books makes me happy.

On the news and new friends front, I’m a nerdfighter now! I watch the Vlogbrothers. I am pretty nerdy. I think nerds have more awesome than jocks or decepticons. And, I have nerdy glasses!

A friend added me to a group of nerdfighters on Whatsapp and the other nerdfighters are bursting with awesome! It’s just so great to interact with like-minded people!

Game of Thrones has finally succeeded in winning me over with its allure. I’ll sign off now and spend some time gazing at Jon Snow’s mysteriously handsome face.

DFTBA, all you amazing people out there!

Five Book Characters I hate with all of my heart

Aren’t there some book characters who you wish die a gruesome death? Or maybe just get kicked in their balls? Or get their eyebrows plucked (That is painful).

I wish such terrible fates on these 5 characters-

5) Keith from ‘Thirteen Little Blue Envelopes’ and ‘The Last Little Blue Envelope’ by Maureen Johnson- Read ‘The Last Little Blue Envelope’ and you’ll understand what an arse he is. I actually liked him in Book 1 but I really hated him in Book 2. He was absolutely despicable. And mean.

Unfortunately, I don’t have an image for Keith but ‘Thirteen Little Blue Envelopes’ and ‘The Last Little Blue Envelope’ have such pretty covers!

The one with the good Keith

The one with the good Keith

Keith is a jerk in this one! But Oliver is awesome! <3

Keith is a jerk in this one!
But Oliver is awesome! ❤

4) Octavian from 'Heroes of Olympus' series by Rick Riordan- He is a teddy bear slaughtering maniac. Do I need to say anything more? Oh yes. He kills stuffed Pandas.

Evil, I tell you, evil

3) George Wickham from ‘Pride and Prejudice’ by Jane Austen- Talk about slimy.

George Wickham from 'Pride and Prejudice' starring Keira Knightley

George Wickham from the webseries 'Lizzie Bennet Diaries' He was much much hotter in this one. Equally scandalous though.

2) Dolores Umbridge from ‘Harry Potter’ by J.K. Rowling- Talk about being a nauseating sadistic bitch.

She makes pink evil

She makes ‘pink’ evil

1) Cersei and Joffery Baratheon (Lannister) from “Game of Thrones’ by George R R Martin- Okay, I need a moment. I am so overwhelmed with hatred. Arrrrrgh! I hate them! I hate them! They deserve what happens to them. They had it coming.
How could she do that to Ned Stark?

And how dare he beat up Sansa! What a stupid spoilt pig!

Just look at him ...Argh!

Just look at him …Argh!

God, I hate them!

It’s almost 4 a.m. in the morning and I’m still awake. Everyone in the house is asleep. I’m sure that the roaches have finished their pillaging for the night. The lights are off and I’m writing a blog post.

I really can’t sleep. There’s the fatigue, there’s a bit of swelling around my eyes and there’s the headache but no sleep.

It’s like the Green Day song ‘Brainstew’. Hence the title. Here’s the link for the song.

Except that when Billie Joe Armstrong wrote this song, he was trying to get his son, Joey to sleep. But little Joey didn’t want to.

Confession: I used to have a ridiculous crush on Joey Armstrong.

Because I loved his dad and adored his mum. I figured that since the parents were so damn awesome, the son would be no less fantastic.

Fortunately, I’ve gotten over this silly crush. Joey Armstrong is a real person and deserves better than crazy chicks like me having a crush on him.

While we are on the topic of crushes, I’ve developed another new one.

Yes, him!

I’ve been watching loads of movies last couple of weeks. I should have mentioned it here but really, I’m the laziest person I know.

List of movies I saw recently-

1. Did you hear about the Morgans?

2. Notting Hill.

3. Sleepless in Seattle

4. Four weddings and a funeral

5. When Harry met Sally

6. La vie en rose

…which reminds me …

Edith Piaf is bloody amazing! Her voice resonates within you. It’s strong and bold but not once does it cease to be a pleasure to the ears.

Also –

I love it already and I’m not even halfway through.

Finally, Tyrion Lannister’s wit actually makes him more desirable than The Kingslayer.

Okay, so I’m going to try sleep again. Otherwise it’s a nuit blanche for me.

(It’s actually stupid to have a postal script in a blog post because it’s a blog post and not a letter. Anyway.)

I think my lack of sleep is due to me skipping brushing my teeth. I’m really obsessed with dental hygiene. Tonight I came to bed at 3.30 a.m. So I skipped. Maybe I’ll go and brush now.

(It it even correct?)

I fell asleep soon after so I’m uploading the post in the morning.

Post two of my crazy Game of Thrones obsession

I’m making a list of my favourite characters from Game of Thrones (just the book one as of now).
Because I like lists and I love GoT.
So voilà!

10. Prince Joffery – because every book requires a character whom the readers can hate.

9. Sansa Stark – because in the end she was a good girl.

8. Robb Stark – because he is brave, braver than I could ever be.

7. Ser Brynden Tully- because he’s another smart guy.

6. Lady Catelyn Stark (née Tully)- because she is brave and wise but above all she is a mum.

5. Tyrion Lannister- because he is smart imp oozing sarcasm.

4. Arya Stark -because she has the Needle.

3. Jon Snow-because black suits him.

2.Lord Eddard “Ned” Stark-because he is the most honorable man among all.

1. Khaleesi Daenerys Targaryen- because she has the blood of dragon .

Dear Copy of Game of Thrones which belongs to my Friend

Dear Copy of Game of Thrones which belongs to my Friend,
I love you. In fact I am one of your many stalkers. I’m obsessed. I finished reading you seven days ago, on 23rd May to be precise.
You have given me an immense amount of joy and helped me discover a world I never would have if I wouldn’t have encountered you. You have my sincere thanks.
Then I saw the TV series and yet again I was rendered star-struck by your brilliance. I loved you more after that experience. I also became of the opinion that TV series based on a book series is way better than a movie franchise.
The tune that is referred to as your theme song has made me lose sleep. Literally. I stay up late at night, deep in thought about the story between your treacherous  lines listening to it.
I fear the possibility of having never read you.
Oh GoT, you have been the best if companions. I fear the day I will have to return to the place where you truly belong. I wish I could booknap you but I can’t do that to my friend. So I shall put on a brave face and bid you adieu.
Meanwhile I’ll try to get in touch with your younger siblings and perhaps also your twin. The monsoon is coming (and with it comes my birthday. *hint*hint*)
  Good bye, dear friend.
  Tu me manques.
                   Yours obsessively,
                    Mia or

So I read Looking for Alaska…

..And I loved it! Obviously! It’s written by John Green who is someone who can definitely write.

I mean, he’s brilliant!

I don’t know how all of these amazing authors do it. Really.

Once, when I was young, tender and extremely stupid, I tried my hand at writing a book. I was just thirteen and you don’t see many thirteen year olds with books of their own. And I did try. I worked hard. I kind of had a band of friends who were both-my first readers and fellow creators of the book (it is called ‘Chocolate’). It wasn’t bad for a chick who just became a teen and is so damn full of shit.

Surprisingly, I did reach an ending point and it isn’t half bad.

I sort of hate it.

Half bad is simply not good enough. I need it to be perfect. It definitely isn’t. I was thirteen! What else do you expect?

I have never even been in love. How am I supposed to write a love story? Yeah, it is possible but it won’t be good enough.

My plot, to sum it down, was about a girl who ends up at a haunted mansion and falls for a ghost.

So, my point here is, if I couldn’t do justice to such a simple, clichéd plot, how do these guys create such magnificence out of the depths of their mind?

How could J.K. Rowling create an entire world full of wizards and sheer brilliance?

How could Rick Riordan create an alternate reality set in New York for the Greek Gods?

How could Suzanne Collins create a completely different system of society?

How could John Green create characters as multi dimensional as Alaska, Margo, Gus and Hazel?

I seriously have so much of respect for all these guys. They are true wizards and witches of our time and beyond.

So…I read Looking for Alaska. I don’t dare to write a review because the book was that awesome.

The thing is, now, I’ve read three books by John Green and so far never has the guy ended up with the girl. Something always gets in the way. I’m not complaining and nor are the tissue companies. But I would really love to read a happy ending written by him.

Do Will Grayson, Will Grayson or An Abundance of Katherines or Let it Snow have happy endings?

I hope to read them in the coming six months. I have a thing where I don’t allow myself to read two really great books soon after each other. I am afraid that I’ll start taking their awesomeness for granted. It’s kind of like ying yang for books.

Also, I read Game of Thrones and I’m absolutely dying to read A Clash of Kings. But I don’t want to read the ebook and the book is kinda expensive. I hope my library has it or I’ll have to borrow from this awesome pal but that might take some time.

It’s such a dilemma. Should I buy or not?

Wish me luck. I hope I get to read it soon.
